The Coronavirus hit! And it hit us all hard!
A couple of months ago, it was a disease at the other side of the world (China). Today (March 25th), there are over 400k confirmed cases.
I don't pretend to be a bearer of bad news, but is there a silver lining to all that's happening? I'm sure there are. And working from home is one of them.
Remote work has been a taboo for many companies, not to say inconceivable to some, but today those companies are also working from home due to the pandemic.
This is, without a doubt, shaping the future of work! Tell me optimistic. But hey, I've been working remotely my last 5+ years, so why wouldn't this be possible for others?
The future will tell us for sure, but hopefully more remote work opportunities will arise once this is over.
Some tips
Of course I've got some tips for y'all who are working from home:
- Create a work environment. Nowhere near your bed, of course! (It's funny how I'm writing this from my bed)
- Shower first thing in the morning and get ready. Keeping your routine is important.
- Spend focused intervals while also taking breaks. Have you heard about The Pomodoro Technique?
- AVOID distractors at all costs. I know watching Netflix can be tempting!
- Finally, an obvious one. Planning. Plan your day at least a day earlier.
